Oasis
The Oasis Soup Kitchen is a ministry that feeds the homeless and needy in and around Prineville. It is our desire to carry out the ministry of Jesus to the least of these in our community with the anticipation that God will use it to impact people not only in this life but in the life to come.
The Oasis was started by Ron and Marlene Davis under the leadership of First Baptist Prineville. Recently Ron and Marlene approached Pastor Ryan about taking over this important ministry. They believed that God used them to launch this ministry but due to health concerns could not continue it.
After our leadership discussed this we felt it incumbent upon us to continue this ministry to the least of these in our community.
We believe that Jesus made it pretty clear that feeding the poor and taking care of the least of these is extremely important (Matthew 25:31-46).
The Oasis serves between 50-80 people 6 days a week. In 2007 The Oasis served over 14,000 meals to hungry people in our community. The Oasis is a community effort. There are dozens of churches, businesses, and residents of Crook County that support, donate, and serve to make this ministry a reality.
In order to serve the needy in Prineville and Crook County effectively Calvary Chapel has brought Brandi Avery on staff to direct and oversee the daily operations of the Oasis. Brandi has a tremendous heart for this ministry and is doing a wonderful job of keeping everything organized and running smoothly.
Please keep Brandi and this outreach ministry in prayer.
